My Hero, Bruce Lipton

IMG_1722

Very recently, I had the great privilege of meeting – and by meeting, I mean nod and mumble incoherently while he signed my book – one of the most brilliant men in the world of brain science and transformation, Bruce Lipton. A stem cell biologist by training, his research on neuroplasticity – the brain's ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections – is some of the most influential research being done today. He explains the how and why behind the healing, belief change work that I do, PSYCH-K®. Basically, he provides proof that this stuff really works, which is especially helpful when you’re working with a modality that uses words like ‘higher self’ and ‘god’ and ‘past lives’.

Over the last 5 years, I have had countless experiences that have shattered all doubt I may have had that modalities that use ‘energy’ or ‘angels’ or ‘beliefs’ for healing really do actually heal. But I wasn’t always this trusting. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. The very name of this degree reveals that while I had a passion for learning about the brain and behavior, I kept one very stubborn foot in those Biology and Chemistry classes for fear of drifting off into Freudian oblivion. My brain is ALWAYS looking for the proof, the scientific evidence, that there is in fact physical change occurring. Bruce’s (we’re on a first name basis now) research links PSYCH-K® with the scientific world, including cellular proof and everything. I know for sure I would not have resonated so strongly with PSYCH-K® if it hadn’t been for his book, The Biology of Belief.

In it, he explains so eloquently that our beliefs create our reality, even at the cellular level. He stresses that we have become resigned to the perceived power of our genes. That if we are genetically predisposed to get breast cancer at some point in our lives, the belief that this is inevitable gives more power to the cancer that the gene itself. He also teaches what PSYCH-K® teaches, that the subconscious mind is the powerhouse. It processes 40,000,000 pieces of information a second, while the conscious mind only processes a measly 40 pieces. Real slacker, the conscious mind. The Biology of Belief explains that, ‘The subconscious mind is more than a million times more powerful than the conscious mind. If the desires of the conscious mind conflict with the programs in the subconscious mind, which 'mind' do you think will win out? You can repeat the positive affirmation that you are loveable over and over or that your cancer tumor will shrink. But if, as a child, you repeatedly heard that you were worthless or sickly, those messages programmed in your subconscious mind will undermine your best conscious efforts to change your life. Remember how quickly your last New Years' resolution to eat less food fell by the wayside as the aroma of the baking turkey dissolved your resolve?’ PSYCH-K works to change these limiting beliefs and programmed patterns at the subconscious level. It's really really cool.

I cannot sum up Lipton's brilliance in three paragraphs. Go read his book and tell me it didn’t blow your mind. I double dare you.
