A Year in Review

A year ago, this June, I decided to take a big leap and quit my day job to pursue my desire to be a Soul Coach. The desire to quit had been there for sometime, but the actual decision came suddenly when some changes happened at my place of work that were a deal breaker.

Spirit was not subtle in its gentle shove out the door into the unknown world of starting your own business.

I had a life coach at the time, thank god, so she lovingly supported me through the bouts of panic and ‘deer-in-the-headlights’ shock and ‘what the fuck am I going to now?!’ questions.

Looking back, I feel grateful that I didn’t know how hard it was going to be when I quit because I probably wouldn’t have done it. And I’m so glad I did.

Here are some of the most important lessons I’ve learned over the last year.

  • When you step into something big, something your soul has been calling you to do sometimes people have very interesting and surprising reactions. For the first few months, people were exploding at me left right and center. At first I was confused by this, but when I looked at it more closely, I realized that my being brave was reflecting back to people the places where they weren’t and that was uncomfortable for them. I’m grateful I was able to reflect this and hopefully they found the courage within themselves to go after their dreams.

  • Not everyone is rooting for your success. Sometimes true colours show up and you get to make new decisions about who you surround yourself with, ideally people that are going to pick you up off the floor when you decide it’s too much and you can’t possibly do another day of this.

  • Maintaining some level of financial stability is very important. I underestimated this and spent most of the year in low grade terror. No joke. I’ve worked through most of it, but that fear that comes with not knowing where your next paycheck is going to come from is some real shit.

  • Your vibration means everything. If you dip, everything dips. If you dip for long enough, shit you don’t want to happen starts happening. So - self care is key. Meditation, exercise, eating well, taking time to rest and take breaks, using your community for support, working with mentors and coaches, pulling cards, praying every day, doing everything you can to create success for yourself. It’s so so so imporant when you’re doing something scary. It can make the difference between success and moving back in with your parents. Haven’t gone there, but definitely thought about it.

  • You get to get really comfortable with discomfort. It’s was pretty much uncomfortable for the whole year. I’m not fully through it yet and I probably won’t ever be. Being uncomfortable is how you know you’re pushing yourself further and bigger and beyond what you think is possible.

  • Your wins are 100 times more gratifying because they’re all you. Your mistakes are 100 times more terrifying because they’re all you.

  • Having a strong connection to Spirit is very helpful. I wouldn’t have made it through the year without this. Trusting that there’s a big loving force that’s rooting for me and bringing me opportunities and shining light on my blocks and believes in me 1000% is invaluable.

  • It’s really fucking hard and really fucking worth it. When you step into something big like this, all your shit comes up. Your life path is perfectly designed down to the very last second to be what most brings your gifts and your shadows to the light. It’s really profound in its ability to bring out the most intense suffering and the brightest light.

  • You get to learn who you are in whole new way, learn what your capable of, what you’re terrified of and what challenges you into the very essence of your core and in doing so liberate these to the gods

  • You get to create whatever you want. Sky’s the limit on what you can create, ideas, abundance, partnerships, holidays, where you work, when you work, how much you work, who you work with, how much fun you have. It’s all up to you.

Here’s to starting my second year with all these lessons learned, and complete openness to more.

If you’re thinking of starting something new, and are looking for support, please don’t hesitate to reach out. It’s my very favorite thing to do, to support people in living their truest and most amazing lives.

Allow me the opportunity to support you. info@saraphillips.ca
